Yesterday was the first day I really had an opportunity to take an extended look at the city, and when I say extended I mean a four hour look. It was incredible, and it solidified my burden for Atlanta at an even deeper level.
The most randomly amazing thing is I did it with brother’s in the Lord who share that same burden, in fact, they too are launching a new expression of the Church here in Atlanta. We have common vision, common dreams, common love for those who are disconnected from God, so it was an immediate connection. One of those brothers is Sho Baraka of 116, mentioned him in a previous blog.
The other amazing part about the day is just the “random” connections made again. We met a young lady who’s heart is burning for God, and who’s love for the city is over flowing. She then introduced us to her brother in Christ Nathan, who is also in the process of starting an expression of the Church specifically targeting the humiliated and poor of our context. I and Dhati shared our hearts with him, and he insisted we meet his mentor Dr. Ben.
Dr. Ben is a former clansman, yes, clansman, who God radically altered, and he now has a love and a heart for the inner city and urban ministry. I really enjoyed speaking with him, and hearing him share his life, and his heart on what needs to happen in Atlanta for it to truly be changed. He then sent me home with nine books, this was obviously a grace to a knowledge hog like myself(yes, I have a problem)…but it was beautiful that he immediately desired to pour into my life.
What an incredible seemingly random day…but I know random had very little to do with any of it.
