Margins

I recently heard a talk by Andy Stanley and it’s central focus was about creating margins. Just by the nature of the message and the content presented, I knew that this message was directed to the business people that are a part of the North Point community, but for me there was more. As I heard him speak about creating time margins concerning business I thought of my own life, and most everyone else who is in vocational ministry.

I realized that I had no margins, that my life was lived to the very limit everyday…and it stemmed from a good place, my desire to, love, help, and reach as many people as possible…but in living so close to the edge, for ministers other things, and people(wife/family) get sacrificed. Ultimately, we live so close to the fray that we…get…burned…out.

If your heart and life is ministry, and letting God work through you to make incredible impact, and see people’s lives radically changed…don’t forget to take care of ourself as well…don’t forget to create margins in your life, to give your first to God and your wife. Don’t neglect to have a sabbath where you create nothing, inspire nothing, you just rest. God will honor it, and you will have greater shalom.
